When investing in commercial real estate in Dubai, you will come across two terms that describe the legal ownership of real estate: Freehold and Leasehold. Which you opt for will depend on your specific goals as an investor. When you buy a property that is freehold, you own both the property and the land outright. You will be eligible for a title deed provided by the Department of Land and Property, Dubai. Leasehold commercial properties are, however, exactly that — leased. The investor, therefore, owns the leasehold building for a fixed period, and you will be subject to a contract between yourself and the freehold owner.
